Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Peru, through the RENACE project funded by the Government of Canada, aims to strengthen climate change adaptation and socio-ecological resilience in Padre Abad. The project focuses on integrated territorial governance, climate-smart agriculture, and nature-based solutions, addressing climate threats exacerbated by unsustainable land use practices.
Job Purpose
The Communication Assistant will support the implementation of the RENACE project's communication strategy and lead the articulation of narratives, evidence, and learnings from the Environment and Energy portfolio. This role is crucial for ensuring thematic coherence and positioning innovative programmatic approaches like Nature-based Solutions, territory-based adaptation, and inclusive climate risk governance. The position aims to enhance knowledge management, promote behavior change, and contribute to public policy dialogue, while ensuring effective articulation between RENACE and other relevant UNDP initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Communication Assistant will support the RENACE project's communication strategy, ensuring coherence with the Environment and Energy portfolio's programmatic approaches. Key duties include articulating common narratives and messages, managing editorial calendars, and identifying thematic positioning opportunities. The role involves developing and managing communication content such as impact stories, press releases, and digital content, ensuring quality and alignment with sustainable development, gender, and interculturality principles. Responsibilities also encompass designing and implementing communication campaigns, monitoring communication performance, and contributing to knowledge management by systematizing experiences and lessons learned. Additionally, the assistant will ensure visibility for UNDP and the donor, coordinate with stakeholders for message consistency, and provide strategic communication guidance.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in strategic communication, journalism, or content production is required with a secondary education. This requirement is reduced to 2 years with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience in drafting knowledge management materials, developing multimedia content, and managing social media is also expected.
