The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the lead UN agency for international development, working in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. The Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) supports partners in mobilizing and deploying finance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role supports the Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD), a global initiative to develop a framework for reporting and managing social and inequality-related risks and opportunities.
Job Purpose
The Technical Specialist will play a crucial role in developing the Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) framework. This involves conducting in-depth research and analysis to underpin the TISFD's deliverables, including an integrated disclosure framework, core metrics, and supporting guidance. The specialist will contribute to building the evidence base on social and inequality-related impacts, dependencies, risks, and opportunities. This position is key to advancing the TISFD's objectives of enabling market actors to identify, assess, and disclose people-related issues, ultimately driving decisions that improve societal outcomes and support sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The Technical Specialist will be responsible for developing research and evidence by identifying research needs, conducting comprehensive research, and producing syntheses and summaries to inform the TISFD's conceptual foundations and disclosure framework. This includes developing the TISFD's Resource Hub. The role involves supporting networks, partnerships, and knowledge sharing by identifying and engaging potential research partners, developing a Research Network, and fostering collaborations with knowledge partners. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to technical deliverables by playing a leading role in drafting publications related to the evidence base, supporting technical working group discussions, and staying abreast of developments in sustainability disclosure standards and social/business finance research.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a Master's degree, and 7 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, sustainability standards, social impact and risk measurement, or business and human rights within the public, private, or academic sectors.
