Job Purpose
The Data Science Associate will support the Human Development Unit (UDH) in Brazil with data-related activities for Human and Sustainable Development agendas. This includes contributing to the development and review of Human Development Reports (national, regional, global), maintaining and updating the Atlas of Human Development in Brazil, and addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role involves providing technical advice on data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation, as well as performing other related tasks as directed by the Coordination. The position aims to leverage data science to inform policy-making and enhance the understanding of development challenges and progress in Brazil.
Responsibilities
The Data Science Associate will provide technical support for structuring and organizing data sources, including mapping, cataloging, and defining data standards. Responsibilities include developing and implementing solutions for data inconsistencies, performing data cleaning, transformation, and preparation for analysis, and assisting in the development and testing of predictive and classification models. The role also involves supporting the creation of reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Business Intelligence tools, and contributing to the elaboration of diagnoses and statistical bases. Additionally, the associate will help structure and organize data, implement data governance practices, document methodologies, and support the validation of data tools and systems. Facilitating knowledge sharing and training is also a key aspect of the role.
