The Bureau for Management Services’ Office of Financial Resources Management (BMS/OFRM) supports the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in implementing the 2030 agenda and its Strategic Plan. BMS/OFRM ensures financial integrity through leadership, efficient resource management, and sound financial policies. It acts as a business partner, providing advisory and analytical services to improve financial performance and support oversight functions.
Job Purpose
The Chief, Finance Integration & Technologies (FIT) role is within the Financial Performance Management & Reporting (FPMR) team, operating at the intersection of accounting policy, financial processes, and systems. This position leverages deep analytical, technical, and process expertise to enhance the quality, speed, and reliability of financial reporting and decision-making. The role drives continuous improvement, focusing on automation, data analytics, and emerging AI capabilities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve data quality. This supports the transition to continuous accounting and greater end-to-end process automation, leading to sustainable efficiency gains through technology-enabled process reengineering and informed senior management decisions.
Responsibilities
The Chief, Finance Integration & Technologies (FIT) is responsible for setting the roadmap for finance process redesign and continuous improvement, establishing target operating models, and defining architectural principles for standardized, system-enabled finance processes. This includes directing the use of automation, data, and AI-enabled capabilities to achieve durable, scalable outcomes. The role leads high-impact finance process interventions, designing and resolving complex challenges, and validating future-state processes and system solutions. Additionally, the Chief provides technical leadership and internal advisory support on complex accounting and financial matters, develops technical accounting positions, and leads the FIT team through ambiguous issues and change initiatives, translating complex issues into clear recommendations for senior management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years (with Master's) or 9 years (with Bachelor's) of relevant experience in finance, financial statement analysis, and process automation is required. At least 5 years of managerial experience, audit/consulting experience with a large international firm, and detailed technical knowledge of GAAP (preferably IPSAS/IFRS) are also required. Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Oracle Cloud EPM) and a passion for AI, digital transformation, and process automation are essential.
