Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Brazil supports national and subnational institutions in achieving sustainable development goals. The Sustainable Development and Environment unit works on biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable production. This role supports the "Support for access to high-integrity forest finance for Brazilian Amazon states" project, focused on jurisdictional REDD+ implementation and forest finance access.
Job Purpose
The Project Assistant will provide administrative and technical support to the "Support for access to high-integrity forest finance for Brazilian Amazon states" project. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and consistent execution of project activities, adhering to UNDP and donor regulations. The assistant will support operational management, administrative and financial processes, logistics for events and missions, document management, and technical activities. The position contributes to the effective implementation of the project, which aims to strengthen jurisdictional REDD+ in the Brazilian Amazon and facilitate access to forest finance for subnational jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will support operational management by monitoring project plans, timelines, and indicators, and facilitating communication. They will assist in administrative and financial management, including procurement plans, budget control, and payment tracking. Logistical support for meetings, missions, workshops, and events, including preparing agendas and materials, will be provided. The role involves managing project documentation, both physical and digital, and supporting information flow. Technical support includes assisting with meeting planning, drafting terms of reference, conducting research, compiling data, and preparing reports and presentations. The assistant will also contribute to knowledge management by supporting the systematization and sharing of project knowledge and lessons learned, and engaging with beneficiaries and partners.
Work Experience
Experience in project support, administrative and financial management, and logistical coordination is desirable. Familiarity with document management systems and supporting technical activities is also beneficial. Experience working within UN or international development organizations is an asset.
