The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization focused on sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within UNDP, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) leads policy development and provides technical advice. The Gender Team within BPPS anchors UNDP's work on gender equality and women's empowerment, supporting country offices in integrating gender across all operations. The Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) platform is a key initiative within this team.
Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst for the Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) platform will be instrumental in facilitating the effective implementation and day-to-day management of this transformative initiative. This role supports the strategic pillars of the WIF, aiming to reconfigure leadership and governance in financial systems by empowering women. The purpose is to advance women's leadership in public and private finance, ensuring their voices and priorities are integrated into global financial architecture and economic reforms. The role contributes to building inclusive and sustainable financial systems by supporting capacity building, technical advisory, policy innovation, and enhancing the visibility and recognition of women leaders in finance, ultimately driving progress towards gender equality and resilient development.
Responsibilities
The Programme Analyst will facilitate the effective implementation and day-to-day management of the Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) Platform. This includes providing technical guidance, preparing and monitoring annual work plans, budgets, and procurement plans, and coordinating the procurement of services and recruitment of personnel. The role involves monitoring financial transactions within the UNDP ERP system. Additionally, the analyst will promote partnerships and support resource mobilization efforts by identifying funding opportunities and preparing proposals. They will also facilitate knowledge and capacity building by supporting training and workshops, documenting best practices, and contributing to knowledge networks. The role includes supporting the Gender Team's priorities on inclusive economies and gender equality, drafting briefing notes, and preparing progress and donor reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years of relevant experience (with a Bachelor's degree) is required. This experience should be in public or private finance, with a demonstrated engagement in advancing women's leadership in these sectors.
Skills
Proficiency in computer use, office software packages (MS Word, Excel), and web-based management systems. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages. Experience and knowledge in the thematic area of women leaders in finance. Demonstrated networking and partnership development abilities. Experience in organizing training, workshops, and capacity building activities. Experience in resource mobilization efforts. Fluency in English is required.
