The Sustainable Development Cluster focuses on environmentally sustainable economic and social progress, improving living conditions for vulnerable populations. This role is within a project strengthening value chains for small rural farmers in Montes de María and Sur de Córdoba, focusing on climate-resilient agroecology.
Job Purpose
The Technical Associate for Sustainable Productive Development will support the strengthening of value chains for key crops (cacao, plantain, yam, cassava, corn) with an agroecology and climate resilience focus. This role is crucial for enhancing the productivity and market access of 43 producer organizations and 2,400 families in the Montes de María and Sur de Córdoba regions. The position contributes to the project's goal of increasing income for small rural farmers by implementing climate-resilient strategies, promoting low-carbon agriculture, and ensuring sustainable environmental practices within the agricultural sector.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance for sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural production. Lead territorial technical teams in implementing sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate CO2 emissions and adapt to climate change. Oversee the production, delivery, and use of clean, climate-resilient seeds. Supervise territorial technical staff in Sucre, including assistants for climate change, value chains, and rural development. Advise teams on agroecological planning, production practices, and sustainable agri-food systems through Farmer Field Schools. Systematize and transfer methodologies for low-carbon and climate-resilient agricultural assistance to farmers. Coordinate with project personnel to achieve objectives and support the analysis of carbon footprints for production units. Identify and engage relevant institutional actors to ensure project sustainability through inter-institutional alliances.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in technical assistance for sustainable agricultural production, climate change adaptation in agriculture, or strengthening rural value chains is required. Experience working with smallholder farmers and producer organizations is highly desirable.
