Job Purpose
The Debris Recycle Analyst will coordinate engineering and technical activities for the sorting, segregation, recycling, and reuse of debris and construction/demolition waste in Ukraine. This role is crucial for implementing effective debris management strategies, aligning with circular economy principles to maximize material recovery and reintegration into reconstruction projects. The analyst will provide technical expertise, oversee operations, and support the development of frameworks and systems for sustainable waste management. This includes engaging stakeholders, identifying opportunities for reuse, appraising designs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the overall goal of efficient and environmentally sound debris management, supporting Ukraine's recovery and resilience.
Responsibilities
Coordinate engineering and technical day-to-day operations for debris and C&D waste sorting, segregation, recycling, and reuse, prioritizing circular economy principles and maximizing material recovery. Support the Debris Management Team in assessing waste composition, volume, and recyclability, including mapping material streams and identifying reusable fractions. Engage with national and local governments, and the private sector to identify needs and priorities for debris recycling and reuse, fostering partnerships with recycling facilities and construction firms. Develop opportunities for applying circular economy principles by promoting the reuse of recycled materials in reconstruction and infrastructure rehabilitation. Facilitate needs assessments and consultations with partners, ensuring recovery plans meet project objectives and consider diverse community needs. Incorporate innovative methods like AI for improved sorting and crushing. Review and appraise engineering designs, cost estimations, and technical specifications for recycling facilities. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and environmental protection standards. Collaborate on developing comprehensive recycling strategies, procurement documents, and vendor selection processes. Monitor project activities, track recycling rates and material recovery volumes, and report on progress. Coordinate data collection and reporting, and provide technical support for field activities. Maintain liaison with project partners, ensure handover of completed works, and prepare project reports. Advocate for policy improvements supporting recycling and market development for secondary materials. Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building on debris recycling and circular economy approaches.
Work Experience
While a Master's degree holder is not required to have professional experience, a Bachelor's degree holder must possess at least two years of relevant professional experience in demolition, debris removal, recycling, reuse, or debris management projects. Experience with construction regulations, civil/environmental engineering, and quality control procedures is advantageous.
