Job Purpose
This internship within the UNDP's Innovation & Effectiveness department, specifically supporting the Area-based Development Emergency Initiative (ABADEI) in Afghanistan, aims to provide crucial assistance in reporting and donor relations. The role is designed to support the team's engagement with Japanese stakeholders, who are a major donor. The intern will contribute to the effective communication of project progress and impact, thereby supporting the overall mission of ABADEI in addressing critical humanitarian and development challenges in Afghanistan. This position offers a practical learning experience in international development, reporting, and cross-cultural communication within a complex operational environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for drafting and translating various donor reports, with a specific focus on reports for Japan. This includes identifying and mapping potential Japanese institutional partners, such as NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector entities, to explore collaboration opportunities. The role involves developing tailored outreach materials, including presentations and concept notes, to facilitate donor engagement. Additionally, the intern will coordinate and provide support for meetings, briefings, and field visits involving Japanese stakeholders. Maintaining an accurate contact database and an engagement tracker for Japanese partners and donors is also a key responsibility. The intern may also be assigned other duties aligned with their role to ensure the efficient operation of the office and the organization.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, prior internships or professional experience with an international organization or NGO, particularly in donor reporting and partnerships, is considered a significant asset. The ability to work at least three days a week is essential. Experience in drafting reports, translating documents between Japanese and English, public relations, and coordinating meetings is also desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Japanese is required.
