The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization dedicated to sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Fiji Multi-Country Office (MCO) supports ten countries in the Pacific region. The Operations Team within the MCO provides essential backbone support, including digital services, to the programme and other UN agencies, ensuring efficient service delivery and administrative support.
Job Purpose
The ICT Assistant provides crucial daily technical support for information management tools and technology infrastructure within the UNDP Pacific office. This role is integral to ensuring the effective functioning of the office's hardware and software, supporting users with IT-related issues, and contributing to the implementation of ICT management systems and strategies. By promoting a client-oriented approach and collaborating closely with Operations and Programme teams, the ICT Assistant helps improve business results and client services through the effective use of technology and ERP functionality, while also assisting in knowledge building and sharing on ICT matters.
Responsibilities
The ICT Assistant is responsible for providing daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure in the Pacific office, working under the guidance of the Administrative Analyst and direct supervision of the ICT Associate. Key duties include implementing ICT management systems and strategies, ensuring compliance with corporate IT standards, and supporting the use of ERP functionality. The role involves maintaining the effective functioning of CO hardware and software, performing routine technical repairs, and assisting with software installations and upgrades. Additionally, the ICT Assistant supports network administration, troubleshoots network problems, and assists users with network access. Responsibilities extend to managing online shared folders and cloud spaces, assisting with data backup and restoration, and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of ICT assets and supplies. The role also includes providing administrative support, managing ICT-related reference materials, and contributing to knowledge building and sharing within the office.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required with a secondary education, or two years of experience with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should encompass network administration, support for hardware and software platforms, telecommunications, and proficiency with Windows-based applications.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft certifications (Azure, SharePoint, Office 365), Cisco certifications (CCNA), and Service Now. Desired skills include experience with audio/visual conferencing systems, understanding of network systems and troubleshooting, technical knowledge of digital platforms (Power BI, Power Apps), and familiarity with ISO 9001 or ITIL certifications.
