The Regional Hub in Panama serves 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, providing policy and advisory support. The Gender Team within the Hub implements the corporate Gender Equality Strategy, with the Prosperity sub-area focusing on gender equality in economic transformation, private sector development, and sustainable finance.
Job Purpose
This role contributes to the strategic coordination, technical implementation, and knowledge development of the Prosperity portfolio within the UNDP Regional Hub's Gender Team. The Gender Policy Analyst will ensure alignment with UNDP's Strategic Plan, Regional Programme Document, and Global Gender Equality Strategy. The position involves strategic portfolio coordination, providing high-level technical advisory services, developing capacity, fostering innovation, managing knowledge, leading advocacy efforts, and mobilizing resources to advance gender equality in economic transformation, sustainable finance, and private sector development across the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Responsibilities
The Gender Policy Analyst will manage the Prosperity sub-area portfolio, contributing to strategic planning and ensuring alignment with regional and corporate priorities. Responsibilities include providing technical and administrative follow-up on workplans, reporting, and deliverables, and coordinating with other Hub teams and global projects. The role involves designing and facilitating regional capacity development initiatives for Country Offices and partners on gender equality in business, sustainable finance, and inclusive value chains. Technical assistance will be provided for integrating gender equality into financial institutions and private sector operations, and for gender-transformative value chain development. The analyst will also lead knowledge management efforts, produce strategic knowledge products, promote innovation, and support advocacy, partnership building, and resource mobilization activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience (with a Master's degree) or four years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required in economic development, gender equality, private sector development, sustainable finance, SMEs, or inclusive economic policies in developing countries. Experience providing technical advisory services to governments, financial institutions, or private sector actors is also required.
