Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova is implementing a project funded by the European Union to enhance rural agriculture development and employment for vulnerable populations. This initiative supports Moldova's transition towards long-term resilience and inclusive growth, focusing on modernizing digital public services in agriculture and employment. The role of Data Analyst is embedded within this project, supporting key institutions like the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) and the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA).
Job Purpose
The Data Analyst will provide essential applied analytical support to a UNDP project in Moldova focused on rural agriculture and employment. This role is crucial for transforming raw data into actionable insights, practical analytical tools, and evidence-based products. The analyst will work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) and the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) to enhance their institutional capacity for data-driven decision-making, monitoring project implementation, and improving reporting. By consolidating data from various sources, identifying gaps, and creating visualizations, the analyst will contribute to more transparent, efficient, and informed project execution, ultimately supporting the modernization of public services and fostering sustainable rural development in Moldova.
Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will support institutional planning, monitoring, and analytical processes by contributing analytical inputs to planning documents, progress updates, and reporting products. This includes preparing summaries, tables, dashboards, and visual materials for decision-making and responding to ad hoc analytical requests. The role involves supporting data collection, management, and quality assurance by mapping, consolidating, and updating administrative and sectoral data sources, assessing data quality, performing basic data validation and cleaning, and documenting data processes. Additionally, the analyst will create and maintain clear, user-friendly visualizations such as dashboards, charts, and maps, and assist staff in interpreting and utilizing these analytical outputs. The position also requires acting as a focal point for analytical coordination, maintaining communication with relevant units, and supporting basic data literacy and knowledge-sharing activities.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of two years of relevant experience in data analysis, data management, monitoring and reporting, or analytical support. Experience with data visualization platforms and standard office software, including spreadsheets and databases, is necessary.
