Project Associate In Kugitangtau Landscape
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uzbekistan is implementing a project focused on ecosystem restoration and conservation within the Kugitangtau landscape. This initiative, part of the GEF 8 Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program, aims to address land degradation and biodiversity decline through innovative, integrated approaches. The project supports Uzbekistan's National Development Strategy 2030 by promoting sustainable land management and environmental protection.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the immediate implementation of project activities in specific districts of Uzbekistan, focusing on ecosystem restoration and conservation within the Kugitangtau Landscape. This role involves supporting the project team, liaising with local stakeholders, facilitating technical and logistical support for consultants and partners, and assisting in monitoring and reporting. The incumbent will ensure project activities align with UNDP standards and contribute to achieving the project's objectives of scaling innovative approaches for ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management, ultimately supporting the National Development Strategy 2030 and generating global environmental benefits.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will support the effective coordination and delivery of project activities in the Kugitangtau Landscape. Key responsibilities include providing technical support for project planning, implementation, and reporting, and preparing inputs for Project Implementation Reports and GEF tracking tools. The role involves liaising with stakeholders, national consultants, contractors, and partners to facilitate project management and implementation. Communication with government agencies, donor organizations, NGOs, and beneficiaries is crucial for effective coordination. The associate will also facilitate technical and logistical support for field activities and training, and assist in monitoring and documenting field experiences and lessons learned. Additionally, the role supports knowledge building, sharing, and capacity development activities, including disseminating project data and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in administration and finance is required with a secondary education. If holding a Bachelor's degree, 3 years of relevant experience is sufficient. Desired experience includes work in land degradation neutrality, climate adaptation, ecosystem conservation, forestry management, and collaboration with local partners at national and municipal levels.
