The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization dedicated to ending poverty, building democratic governance, and fostering inclusive institutions. As part of its ambitious digital transformation, UNDP is implementing its Digital Strategy 2022-2025, aiming to leverage digital technologies and AI for sustainable development. The Digital, AI, and Innovation Hub in BPPS spearheads this initiative, shaping smarter development for a rapidly changing world.

Job Purpose

The AI Hub Digital Analyst will play a crucial role in designing and delivering AI Hub projects focused on the intersection of AI for development and private sector growth. This position involves co-designing innovative AI Hub programs and providing tailored support. The analyst will collaborate with G7 partners, African nations, and authorities in 14 African countries to enhance project impact. The role contributes to advancing UNDP's vision of digital empowerment for people and the planet, supporting the AI Hub's mission to foster innovation and prosperity through AI foundations in areas like green compute, data, and talent, particularly for Africa's youth.

Responsibilities

The Digital Analyst will support the AI Hub's knowledge, insights, and strategy by contributing to the design, implementation, and monitoring of programming cycles, generating actionable insights, and developing R&D approaches. They will assist in building partnerships with Italy, G7 countries, and African governments, tracking trends to position UNDP at the forefront of responsible AI. Responsibilities also include supporting flagship program delivery through outcome-oriented campaigns and partnership strategies, managing project objectives, stakeholder mapping, and implementation processes. The role involves designing innovative approaches to leverage AI opportunities and mitigate risks, contributing to go-to-market strategies, and collaborating with communications and partnership teams. Additionally, the analyst will support program management, measurement, and strategic coordination, assisting steering groups, managing partnership agreements, defining impact indicators, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in AI, digital transformation, or sustainable development is required. Demonstrated experience in managing digital initiatives, communities, or innovation functions is essential. Experience with advanced office applications is necessary. Experience in diverse contexts, with developing countries, international development, or UN agencies is advantageous, as is experience in data analysis, knowledge management, reporting, and cross-functional team coordination.
