Technical Specialist - Green Venture Zone (GVZ) [open To All Applicants]
Organizational Context
The Green Venture Zone (GVZ) in Pokhara, Nepal, is an innovation hub under the Green Job Creation Through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) Project. It aims to transform waste into valuable resources through creativity, innovation, and business incubation, promoting a circular economy model. The GVZ will serve as an educational and tourist destination, managed by Pokhara Metropolitan City, and is designed to be a self-sustaining facility.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for the operationalization and long-term viability of the Green Venture Zone (GVZ) in Pokhara. The purpose is to translate the GVZ's vision into actionable strategies, establish robust operational systems, and drive partnerships to ensure financial self-sufficiency and effective management. The Specialist will lead the institutionalization of sustainable practices, transforming the GVZ into a high-performing, self-sustaining model of circular economic innovation. This position is key to maximizing the utilization of diverse GVZ spaces for revenue generation, fostering green economic growth, and establishing the GVZ as a landmark attraction integrating sustainability, innovation, and visitor engagement.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for the operationalization and management of the Green Venture Zone (GVZ), overseeing functional space utilization, establishing operational systems, and developing guidelines. Lead the design and implementation of educational, community engagement, and enterprise incubation programs, including technical expertise in learning programs and strengthening the business incubation initiative. Establish linkages between RU enterprises and GVZ infrastructure, facilitating access to facilities and support services. Build and maintain high-level partnerships with government, private sector, and tourism stakeholders to mobilize resources and enhance market engagement. Mainstream Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles across all GVZ operations and programs, promoting equitable participation and targeted support for marginalized entrepreneurs.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years (with Master's) or 7 years (with Bachelor's) of experience in designing and implementing education, training, and community engagement programs. Essential experience includes global work with Recycling and Upcycling Centers and proficiency with MS Office and digital collaboration tools. Experience in business planning for SMEs, incubation support, enterprise mentoring, and partnership building is desired.
