Organizational Context
The Bureau for Management Services’ Office of Financial Resources Management (BMS/OFRM) supports the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in implementing the 2030 agenda and its Strategic Plan. It focuses on developing and operationalizing a harmonized integrated resource management framework to enhance financial and administrative performance and facilitate UN reform. The Treasury Division within OFRM manages global cash, currency, and banking risks, overseeing liquidity and investments.
Job Purpose
The Operational Due Diligence Associate provides administrative, coordination, and analytical support to the Operational Due Diligence Team within UNDP's Bureau for Management Services. This role is crucial for enhancing risk management and operational effectiveness across the organization. The Associate works closely with various internal teams, including Treasury Operations, Legal Services, Procurement, and IT Management, as well as central bureaus and country offices. The position supports the implementation of key policies such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Policy and the Vendor Sanctions Policy, contributing to the maintenance of financial integrity and operational security.
Responsibilities
The Operational Due Diligence Associate is responsible for providing administrative support for AML/CFT policy implementation, including preparing documentation, managing databases, and resolving sanction queries. This involves accurate data entry, validation, and producing standardized reports. The role also includes conducting research for corporate reporting and analytics, supporting the collection of vetting data, and monitoring cases. Additionally, the Associate assists with the overall administration of the division, including personnel onboarding, vendor profile creation, procurement requests, and travel coordination. A key function is collaborating with Treasury Operations on AML/CFT queries from UNDP banks, identifying operational measures to mitigate risk, and exploring automation opportunities. The role also supports knowledge sharing and building within the division.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of experience with Secondary Education, or three years with a bachelor's degree, is required in areas such as Data Management, Information Systems, Business Operations, Office Automation, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Law. This must include at least two years of AML/CFT screening experience. Experience supporting data-driven operational processes, using Excel for workflow streamlining, proficiency in MS Office and database packages, and experience with ERP financial systems are also required. Experience with UN entities is preferred, as is demonstrated interest in risk management, AML/CFT, or financial crimes.
