Organizational Context
This role is part of the project "Strengthening Capacities for Economic Impulse and Sustainable Development Goals," a collaboration between the Government of Mexico and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project supports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in enhancing its capabilities to promote Mexico's international economic interests through multilateralism and fulfilling its economic functions.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in strengthening its capacity to position Mexico's interests internationally via multilateralism and its economic functions. This involves advising on bilateral, regional, and multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms to boost competitiveness, attract investment, promote trade, and reduce inequalities. The role will coordinate economic cooperation initiatives, institutional dialogues, and high-level meetings with strategic partners to anticipate and respond to economic and commercial challenges impacting Mexico. It will also promote Mexico's international economic policy abroad, focusing on innovation, technology transfer, investment attraction, and the internationalization of strategic sectors, ensuring a gender and inclusion perspective.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include advising the Director General on actions derived from bilateral, regional, and multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms aimed at enhancing competitiveness, attracting investment, promoting trade, and reducing inequalities. The role involves coordinating the establishment of economic cooperation mechanisms, institutional dialogues, and high-level meetings with strategic partners to address economic and commercial conjunctures. It will also promote Mexico's international economic policy through its foreign representations, focusing on innovation, technology transfer, investment attraction, and the internationalization of strategic sectors with a gender and inclusion perspective. Furthermore, the role entails supervising actions of Mexico's foreign representations to advance priority projects, commercial promotion, international fair participation, trade missions, and business opportunity channeling, in coordination with relevant authorities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of experience is required with a Bachelor's degree, or 2 years with a Master's degree. Relevant experience areas include international negotiations, economic cooperation, economic development, health crises, event management, and related fields.
Skills
Required skills include project planning and management, effective oral and written communication, team management, time management, and crisis management. Desired skills encompass international negotiation experience, inter-institutional coordination, knowledge of international economics, private sector development, foreign trade, diplomacy, and experience within the Federal Public Administration or International Organizations.
