Gender Analyst [open To Internal And External Applicants]
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization dedicated to sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Fiji Multi-Country Office (MCO) covers ten Pacific Island countries, implementing a comprehensive program aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The office focuses on three strategic priorities: Planet, Prosperity, and Peace, supported by specialized teams and a robust management and oversight unit.
Job Purpose
The Gender Analyst will guide and facilitate the effective integration of gender equality perspectives across the UNDP Fiji MCO's programs, projects, and operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the MCO actively promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls through proactive engagement with governments, UN agencies, donors, and civil society. The analyst will coordinate the office's participation in the UNDP Gender Equality Seal certification process, provide technical support for gender-focused projects, and ensure alignment with the Multi-Country Programme Document and the Gender Equality Strategy. The position also supports fostering a workplace culture of respect, inclusivity, diversity, and gender equality.
Responsibilities
The Gender Analyst is responsible for integrating gender equality into the MCO's multi-country programs, projects, and operations. This includes providing guidance and technical support to staff, coordinating participation in the Gender Equality Seal certification, and overseeing the implementation of gender equality commitments. Key duties involve supporting gender mainstreaming across the project cycle, monitoring development trends affecting gender equality in ten Pacific countries, and ensuring quality assurance of gender markers for projects. The role also entails building strategic partnerships with governments, UN agencies, and civil society to advance the gender agenda, facilitating knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and best practices, and contributing to a workplace culture that uphms respect, inclusivity, and diversity.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree require no professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in designing, managing, and implementing development projects focused on gender equality and women's empowerment. Experience working with state institutions on gender equality promotion, capacity building, and gender-responsive budgeting is desirable, as is experience with gender analysis for policy development and familiarity with gender equality challenges in the Pacific.
