Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia is implementing the "Advanced Capacity for Accelerated Delivery Initiative" (ACADI) project. This initiative aims to enhance the Ministry's capacity to manage loan-funded projects, focusing on water and wastewater infrastructure. The Engineering Associate will be part of a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) supporting these critical infrastructure development activities.
Job Purpose
The Engineering Associate will provide essential technical expertise and support for the design, supervision, and quality assurance of infrastructure projects under the ACADI initiative. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects meet specified objectives, quality standards, and are completed within time and budget constraints. The Associate will contribute to the effective implementation of water supply and wastewater system improvements, supporting the Ministry's capacity to manage loan-funded investments and achieve timely, impactful results in line with project documents and national regulations.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for project implementation, including assistance with commercial contracts, tender documentation, and procurement processes. Offer project management support for works related to energy efficiency and environmental management. Coordinate design documentation, review technical drawings, and assist in preparing quantity and cost estimates. Advise on and manage the resolution of design or quality issues. Ensure compliance with engineering standards and project policies. Support coordination and communication with municipalities, ministries, public utilities, and other stakeholders. Supervise design development and construction works, monitoring quality, costs, schedule, safety, and environmental aspects. Prepare project reports, conduct technical analysis, and support monitoring and evaluation processes. Provide administrative and documentation support for engineering-related issues and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in construction project management and supervision is required with secondary education, or 3 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should cover areas such as construction engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or water supply and sewerage engineering. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is also noted.
