Job Purpose
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate the comprehensive management of infrastructure projects, primarily sports-related. This involves ensuring planning, execution, supervision, and closure align with recognized project management methodologies, UNDP guidelines, and Guatemalan regulations. The role is crucial for timely delivery of results and technical quality of project outputs. Reporting to the Programme Officer, the Project Manager will provide strategic direction and integral management for complex, high-value projects within UNDP Guatemala's programmatic framework, requiring significant autonomy, strategic decision-making, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Lead strategic planning, supervision, and management of projects in accordance with UNDP rules and national priorities. Translate strategic objectives into operational plans with measurable results. Continuously analyze the political, institutional, and financial environment to anticipate risks and opportunities. Ensure all project interventions integrate gender, inclusion, and sustainability. Direct the technical, operational, and financial implementation of projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery. Oversee budget execution, propose strategic adjustments, and ensure compliance with UNDP and national regulations. Identify and mitigate budgetary, operational, and execution risks. Lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of ethics, respect, inclusion, and shared responsibility. Manage risks programmatically, financially, and politically, implementing mitigation plans and ensuring transparency. Cultivate strategic partnerships, lead negotiations, and drive resource mobilization efforts. Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, knowledge management, and documentation of results, lessons learned, and best practices.
Work Experience
The role requires experience in strategic direction and integral management of complex and/or high-value financial projects. This includes leading multidisciplinary teams and efficient management of human and financial resources. Experience in project planning, execution, supervision, and closure, adhering to project management methodologies and organizational guidelines, is essential.
