Technical Specialist For Ecosystem Restoration & Climate Resilience (open To Internal And External Applicants)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Cambodia Country Office partners with the Royal Government of Cambodia and various stakeholders to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. This role supports the GEF-8 Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP) and the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) projects, focusing on integrated watershed and ecosystem management for improved livelihoods and climate resilience in key landscapes.
Job Purpose
The Technical Specialist for Ecosystem Restoration and Climate Resilience provides substantive guidance and technical input to the Ministry of Environment for the implementation of the ERIP and LDCF projects. This role ensures effective project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of best practices in ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions. The specialist will contribute to achieving project objectives related to improved livelihoods, climate resilience, and sustainable development within the Tonle Sap Basin and Siem Reap/Phnom Kulen landscape, leveraging UNDP's expertise and fostering national capacity.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic advice and technical inputs to project leadership and management units for effective multi-stakeholder engagement and project delivery. Oversee the quality and timeliness of consultant and sub-contractor work, ensuring synergy and integration of project outputs. Guide restoration activities, capacity development, and the revitalization of watershed management forums. Advise on innovative financial models for investment and contribute to communication materials highlighting project results. Ensure the implementation and monitoring of Gender, Social, and Environmental Safeguards, managing grievances and risks. Provide high-quality advisory services, facilitate knowledge management, and support adaptive project management through evaluation findings and lessons learned. Maintain networks with development partners and government entities, and facilitate training for national counterparts.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience (with a Master's degree) or 7 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in biodiversity and forest conservation, ecosystem restoration, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience should involve providing oversight and advisory services to complex development projects in nature, climate change, or related areas. Experience in GEF/GCF project implementation and working in developing countries is highly desirable.
