Senior Management Support Intern
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequalities, and building resilience. The Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) specifically works with Palestinian authorities and partners to enhance socio-economic resilience, self-reliance, and cohesive identity. This internship supports PAPP's Senior Management in administrative and strategic activities to improve organizational performance and advance the UNDP mandate in Palestine.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Senior Management of the UNDP Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) in East Jerusalem. The role will contribute to improving organizational performance, strengthening partnerships, and advancing the UNDP mandate within Palestine. The intern will gain valuable insight into development cooperation, project management, and the operational dynamics of UNDP in the region. The primary objective is to assist Senior Management in the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of development programs, and to contribute to the overall management of the PAPP office's daily operations, offering a comprehensive understanding of UNDP's work in a complex environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support across three key areas: Strategic Planning, Research and Analysis (40%), involving assistance with strategic and work plans, conducting background research, and preparing briefs for Senior Management. Project Support, Documentation, and Internal Reporting (35%) includes supporting day-to-day project implementation, monitoring progress, identifying challenges, and assisting with donor brochures and internal reports. Finally, Internal Communications, Coordination, and Administration (25%) entails drafting communications materials, organizing and coordinating meetings and workshops, and providing general administrative support as needed to enhance office efficiency and information sharing.
Work Experience
No specific prior work experience is mandated for this internship. However, prior experience in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) or the Middle East & North Africa region is considered an asset.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital communication tools. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required. Knowledge of other UN languages, particularly Arabic, is advantageous. Key competencies include strong analytical skills, ability to synthesize information, initiative, goal-orientation, effective teamwork and independent work, good organization and time management, cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and a positive, constructive attitude.
