Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist - Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) role is central to the day-to-day coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the WIF platform. This position focuses on advancing women's leadership in public and private finance globally, ensuring coherence across various interventions, and facilitating strategic partnerships. The role contributes significantly to promoting inclusive and gender-responsive economic governance by supporting high-level dialogues, capacity-building initiatives, and visibility efforts for women leaders in finance. The specialist will work to embed women's voices and priorities within global financial architectures and drive structural change towards more equitable and sustainable financial systems.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will lead the day-to-day coordination and execution of the Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) platform, aligning activities with its strategic pillars and workplan to advance women's leadership in finance. This includes supporting the establishment and management of a global platform, engaging with co-chairs like the Ministry of Finance of Brazil, and positioning WIF in key global decision-making forums. The role involves organizing strategic dialogues, regional forums, and multi-stakeholder consultations to foster collective action and policy commitments. Responsibilities also extend to liaising with UNDP country offices and partners for effective program delivery, overseeing leadership academies and mentorship programs, and monitoring implementation progress to ensure high-impact results. Furthermore, the specialist will contribute technical inputs to knowledge products, manage digital and knowledge management systems, build and maintain strategic partnerships, and support resource mobilization efforts. The role also includes providing strategic guidance on gender equality priorities and preparing relevant documentation and materials.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience (with a Master's degree) or 9 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in public or private finance, or related fields, demonstrating progression to senior positions, is required. Demonstrated experience in advancing women's leadership in public and/or private finance and experience in project management (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation) are essential.
