Job Purpose
The Regional Project Manager (RPM) will provide high-level project management for UNDP's urban resilience portfolio in Central Asia. The primary goal is to ensure projects achieve their stated results within quality, time, and cost constraints. This involves overseeing the implementation of ongoing initiatives, preparing for future interventions, and ensuring effective delivery of project targets. The RPM will manage resources, monitor progress, mitigate risks, and coordinate with stakeholders to maximize synergies and generate scalable impacts across the region, contributing to enhanced community resilience.
Responsibilities
The Regional Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the urban resilience portfolio, ensuring effective delivery of ongoing and future initiatives. This includes liaising with Project Boards, planning activities, monitoring progress against results frameworks, and mobilizing resources. The RPM will provide strategic guidance and oversight to project teams, manage budgets, and ensure timely reporting on financial status and project progress. Key duties involve risk management, including identifying and mitigating social and environmental risks, and ensuring compliance with UNDP standards. The role also entails coordinating technical inputs, quality assuring project deliverables, and fostering collaboration with national and international partners, suppliers, and beneficiaries. Additionally, the RPM will lead communication and visibility efforts, organize technical events, disseminate project findings, and contribute to knowledge management by collecting and analyzing lessons learned.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of project management experience (with a Master's degree) or 7 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required in areas such as environment, economy, urban resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate change, or urban/environmental planning. Experience managing technical and administrative teams and developing partnerships with national and international entities is also necessary.
