The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization focused on sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It operates through a network of field-based and global technical expertise, supporting policy work and programme implementation. The Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) develops policies and provides technical advice to country offices, collaborating with various partners to enhance development results.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Scaling Smart Health Systems (SHS) global project, which aims to accelerate SDG progress by integrating climate-smart infrastructure, digital health solutions, and innovative financing to build equitable, resilient, and sustainable health systems. The project addresses critical challenges in global health, such as unreliable electricity and inefficient supply chains, by leveraging UNDP's expertise and partnerships. The position contributes to strengthening health systems, promoting human development, and advancing climate action through cross-sectoral approaches to pandemic preparedness and response, ensuring improved health outcomes and equity.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day project operations, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and efficient resource management, including budgeting and expenditure tracking. Monitor project activities, maintain issue and risk logs, and contribute to progress reports. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with donors and stakeholders, supporting resource mobilization and ensuring effective engagement as a technical health partner. Provide technical advice and quality assurance to UNDP Country Offices for designing and scaling up new initiatives, ensuring compliance with UNDP rules and policies. Facilitate knowledge sharing, develop systems for effective project management, and coordinate information exchange among stakeholders. Capture and disseminate good practices to support the overall success of the SHS Project.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (with a Master's degree) or 7 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in the public or private sectors, with increasing responsibility in managerial positions, is required. Experience in developing project proposals, providing technical support to governments and development partners, and working with health infrastructure projects is desired. Familiarity with the Global Fund and experience within the UN system are advantageous.
