Organizational Context
The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) supports developing countries, particularly LDCs, by mobilizing and catalyzing capital for SDG-impactful investments. In Ghana, UNCDF manages a $10M portfolio focused on youth empowerment, SME finance, and climate finance, piloting digital service models for vulnerable populations in Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale. This role supports the local implementation of these projects.
Job Purpose
The Field Associate/Coordinator will contribute to the successful delivery of UNCDF activities in Ghana, specifically in the targeted regions of Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale. This role involves providing technical support to UNCDF partners, coordinating day-to-day field operations, facilitating community engagement, and supporting pilot activities. The position also contributes to monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts at the regional level, including data collection and reporting. Additionally, the role supports knowledge-sharing initiatives and stakeholder engagement to advocate for UNCDF's objectives and ensure compliance with UN rules and standards. The aim is to ensure effective implementation and impact of UNCDF projects at the local level, focusing on increasing access to digital services for vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include executing country project delivery by providing technical support to partners and coordinating daily field activities with local authorities, partners, and beneficiaries. This involves facilitating community entry, stakeholder engagement, and participatory approaches, as well as supporting pilot activities, trainings, and sensitization sessions. The role also entails contributing to monitoring, evaluation, and learning by facilitating local information exchange, monitoring field implementation against work plans, and supporting data collection systems. Administrative support for activities and investments in targeted MMDAs, along with preparing field reports and identifying implementation challenges, is also required. Furthermore, the Field Associate will support knowledge-sharing efforts by collecting data and learnings from the field, conducting relevant research, and contributing to regional knowledge initiatives. Building and maintaining relationships with local government and advocating for UNCDF objectives are crucial. Finally, the role includes providing logistical support for field missions and ensuring compliance with UNCDF and UN rules and safeguarding standards.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience is required with a secondary education, or four years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in development projects with international donors, preferably in digital innovation or access to finance. Experience in community engagement, field operations, data collection tools, and reporting systems is also desired.
