Organizational Context

UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals. In Côte d'Ivoire, despite progress in education access, structural inequalities persist, disproportionately affecting girls and women, particularly in transitions to technical and vocational education. The National Development Plan aims to enhance human capital and decent job creation, yet female participation in industrial sectors remains low.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to address the underrepresentation of girls and women in industrial sectors of technical and vocational education in Côte d'Ivoire. The role will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the training environment and participation levels, identifying structural, institutional, pedagogical, and socio-cultural barriers. The objective is to propose strategic recommendations to improve access, retention, and professional integration for young women, thereby contributing to their economic empowerment and aligning with national development goals for increased female participation in key economic sectors.

Responsibilities

The consultant will conduct an integrated analysis of structural, institutional, pedagogical, socio-economic, and socio-cultural obstacles hindering girls' and women's participation in technical and vocational industrial fields. This includes evaluating gender equality considerations in curricula, training materials, and teaching methods, as well as assessing the learning environment and inter-personal dynamics. The role involves identifying and analyzing opportunities in growth sectors like digital technology, mining, and the green economy, linking them to labor market needs. Key tasks include proposing recommendations for favorable conditions, enhanced access and retention, and improved employability/self-employment, organizing a validation workshop, and developing a project document to strengthen participation and economic empowerment.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in research, analysis, and report writing is essential. The consultant must have solid experience in stakeholder engagement, including consultations, interviews, and validation workshops with public institutions, training centers, the private sector, and civil society.
