Organizational Context
UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, working globally to eliminate discrimination and achieve equality between men and women. This role is based in the UN Women Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting the Regional Operations Manager.
Job Purpose
The Driver provides essential, reliable, and safe transportation services for UN Women officials, visitors, and staff within Nairobi. This role ensures the efficient movement of personnel and documents, contributing to the smooth operation of the Regional Office. The Driver is responsible for maintaining vehicle safety, adhering to protocol, and providing basic administrative support, ensuring a high standard of service and discretion.
Responsibilities
Provide secure and reliable driving services for UN Women officials, visitors, and staff, including VIP missions. Transport mail, documents, and other items between various offices and establishments. Facilitate airport pick-ups and assist with customs formalities when required. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing seatbelt usage and adhering to all traffic regulations. Maintain vehicles in safe and operational condition through regular checks and cleaning. Accurately record all vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities in logbooks. Report any vehicle defects or safety concerns promptly. Assist with general administrative and logistical tasks, including document delivery and support for official visits. Ensure all required vehicle documents are current and readily available.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of experience as a driver with a reputable organization, such as an international body, embassy, or UN agency, demonstrating a safe driving record. Experience in administrative support and maintaining accurate vehicle/fuel logs is essential. Computer literacy with MS Office (Word, Excel) is also required.
