Finance and Programme Associate Consultant
Organizational Context
UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section focuses on comprehensive strategies to combat gender-based violence. This role supports the ACT to End Violence against Women and Girls Programme, funded by the European Union, aiming to strengthen women's rights movements and advocacy.
Job Purpose
This Finance and Programme Associate Consultant role supports the UN Women EVAW Section, specifically the ACT to End Violence against Women and Girls Programme. The purpose is to ensure effective and timely financial delivery and programmatic support in compliance with UN Women's rules and regulations. The role involves managing financial strategies, monitoring budgets, providing administrative and logistical support, and collaborating with various teams globally and regionally to ensure successful programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
Responsibilities
The consultant will implement financial strategies for the EVAW Programme, ensuring compliance with UN Women's financial regulations and policies. Key duties include verifying financial transactions, monitoring budgets, preparing financial reports, and managing cost recovery. The role involves maintaining internal expenditure control systems, processing payments, and undertaking corrective actions for financial data issues. Additionally, the consultant will provide administrative and logistical support for programme formulation and management, including preparing work plans, budgets, and supporting audits. Guidance and training to partners on financial reporting may also be required.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in finance is required. Experience with computer software packages (MS Word, Excel), spreadsheet and database management, and web-based management systems is essential. Proficiency in a modern web-based ERP system, preferably Oracle Cloud, is mandatory. Experience with EU-funded projects and supporting programmes on ending violence against women or gender equality is desirable.
