Organizational Context

The Country Office priorities align with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2026-2030), focusing on ending violence against women, supporting the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, enhancing women's economic empowerment, and strengthening women's participation in governance. The role supports the flagship Gender Equality Accelerator (GEA) joint initiative.

Job Purpose

The Programme Assistant provides essential day-to-day administrative, organizational, and programme support for the coordination of the Joint Programme Gender Equality Accelerator (JP GEA). This role is crucial for ensuring smooth administrative and logistical coordination across participating UN organizations, programme pillars, Gender Equality Mechanisms, governance structures, and development partners. The position supports the effective implementation of the GEA, which aims to accelerate transformative change on gender equality and women's empowerment through systems-level reforms and institutional accountability. The assistant's contributions are vital for advancing structural change and delivering measurable progress on gender equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, aligning with national reform efforts and international frameworks.

Responsibilities

The Programme Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and logistical support for the GEA Joint Programme. This includes assisting in the preparation of work plans, budgets, and proposals, and tracking fund delivery. The role supports executing partners with routine delivery and reporting, and collects information on planned and ongoing activities from UN partners and pillar teams. Administrative support is provided for coordination with Gender Equality Mechanisms and for programme audits. The assistant also supports financial management by creating projects in the Quantum system, preparing budget revisions, and processing payments. Furthermore, the role undertakes logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for workshops, events, and meetings, including making travel arrangements and drafting minutes. Support is also provided for donor coordination, reporting, and resource mobilization, as well as for knowledge building and sharing initiatives.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative or programme management/support is required with a secondary education, or 2 years with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience working with multiple office software packages is essential. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, and experience supporting a team are desirable.
