UN Women's India Country Office accelerates gender equality and women's empowerment through strategic partnerships, policy advice, and advocacy. The 'Women Artisans of Change' initiative, in partnership with the Ministry of Textiles, aims to boost women's leadership, skills, and market access in the handloom and handicrafts sector, promoting sustainable and circular production practices.
Job Purpose
This consultancy supports UN Women's partnership with the Ministry of Textiles and the 'Women Artisans of Change' initiative. The role provides technical assistance for project implementation, coordinates with stakeholders, designs and delivers capacity-building programs, and develops knowledge products. It also supports research and advocacy on women's economic empowerment, leadership, entrepreneurship, and circularity within the textile sector, contributing to enhanced visibility and market access for women-led enterprises.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for UN Women's initiatives on women's economic empowerment in the textile sector. Coordinate with the Ministry of Textiles, government agencies, partners, and industry stakeholders. Design and facilitate training programs, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives on gender, entrepreneurship, leadership, and sustainable textile practices. Develop technical reports, policy briefs, concept notes, proposals, knowledge products, and communication materials. Support research, documentation, and advocacy on women artisans, weavers, and circularity. Coordinate the planning and implementation of consultations, conferences, and flagship events. Support partnership development and resource mobilization. Monitor program implementation, document lessons learned, and prepare reports. Provide technical and coordination support for major events like Bharat TEX.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of experience in the handloom, handicrafts, or textile sector, with a focus on sustainable or circular economy. Experience in gender equality, women's economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and value chains is essential. Proven expertise in developing training manuals, conducting workshops, and working with government institutions, development partners, and the private sector is necessary. Strong technical writing and communication skills are required.
