This role supports the UN Women Indonesia Country Office.
Job Purpose
This role serves to provide professional English copy editing services for UN Women publications and communication needs, catering to both internal and external audiences. The copy editor will ensure the clarity, consistency, and correctness of UN Women's written materials, maintaining high editorial standards. The position is on a retainer basis, engaged only when required by the UN Women Indonesia Country Office, contributing to the effective communication of UN Women's mission and programs.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive editing, copyediting, and rewriting services for UN Women's knowledge products and publications. Ensure adherence to the UN editorial style manual and UN Women Editorial Style Guide. Correct spelling, grammar, and syntax errors, while identifying information gaps and restructuring content as needed in collaboration with UN Women. Maintain consistent style, formatting, and terminology throughout documents. Ensure correct English usage while preserving authors' writing styles, and guarantee coherence and consistency in writing. Verify appropriate positioning and numbering of boxes, figures, and tables, and ensure consistent font usage and appropriate use of italics and bold text. Confirm completeness and consistency of footnotes, sources, and references, and thoroughly review annexes according to UN publication guidelines. Prepare tables of contents and acronym lists as required, and proofread designed layout files for completeness.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years (with Master's) or 7 years (with Bachelor's) of professional experience in editing, copyediting, and proofreading. Proven experience editing knowledge products and communications materials for external audiences is essential. Experience with international development or UN agency documents is an asset. Familiarity with gender equality and women's issues is desired.
