Organizational Context

UN Women in Moldova is working to advance gender equality and women's empowerment. The Economic Empowerment section focuses on ensuring women's access to financial resources and markets. This role supports the development of the Moldova International Stock Exchange (BIMx), a new platform for corporate financing, by advising on an inclusive, gender-mainstreamed, and sustainability-oriented capital market and institutional development strategy.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to provide expert advice and support to the Moldova International Stock Exchange (BIMx) in developing a comprehensive business development strategy. The strategy must be inclusive, gender-mainstreamed, and sustainability-oriented, building upon BIMx's existing Business Plan. The role involves embedding gender equality, financial inclusion, and sustainability dimensions into BIMx's operations and aligning them with national and EU frameworks. The objective is to enhance women's participation and access to capital markets, contributing to their economic empowerment and overall sustainable development in Moldova.

Responsibilities

The consultant will conduct a diagnostic review of BIMx's Business Plan and institutional context, assessing entry points for gender mainstreaming, inclusion, and sustainability. This includes producing an alignment matrix and utilizing UN Women Moldova's needs assessment data. The role involves advising and supporting BIMx in drafting a gender-sensitive business development strategy with clear objectives, actions, and an M&E framework. Key tasks include consolidating the role of women in capital markets, developing a preliminary concept for a future BIMx stock market index, and supporting the validation of the draft strategy. Additionally, the consultant will develop a gender-sensitive market attraction plan and promotional package to engage issuers and investors, and provide practical KPI tracking tools for BIMx management.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in capital markets, financial sector development, banking, or institutional strategy development is required. Demonstrated experience in developing strategic documents, advising financial market institutions, and engaging with stakeholders in Moldova is essential. Experience in integrating gender equality and sustainability into strategies is an advantage, as is prior work with international organizations.
