Organizational Context
UN Women Kazakhstan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is implementing a project to enhance the well-being and resilience of law enforcement professionals. Specialized domestic violence units have been established, and this role supports their officers who face demanding work and exposure to complex cases. The project aims to prevent burnout and strengthen psychological resilience among these officers.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to develop and deliver a practical training component focused on occupational well-being and psychological resilience for law enforcement officers in specialized domestic violence units in Kazakhstan. The purpose is to equip officers with skills to prevent professional burnout and deformation, manage occupational stress, and enhance emotional self-regulation. By providing these tools, the role contributes to supporting the psychological resilience and overall well-being of officers who are often the first point of contact for survivors of domestic violence, thereby improving their effectiveness and personal sustainability in a challenging role.
Responsibilities
The National Consultant/Psychologist will develop a practice-oriented training module and accompanying materials on preventing professional burnout and deformation, managing occupational stress, and enhancing emotional self-regulation and psychological resilience. This includes creating presentations, practical exercises, case studies, and self-assessment tools tailored for specialized police units. The consultant will deliver this training in 2-3 pilot regions of Kazakhstan using interactive adult-learning methods. Additionally, the role involves reviewing existing information on the units' mandates and functions, participating in consultations to identify key challenges, and collecting/analyzing participant feedback to develop recommendations for further support of officers' well-being.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in psychology, specifically related to occupational stress, burnout, or psychological well-being, is required. Experience in training or capacity development for law enforcement, security personnel, or other frontline professionals exposed to high occupational stress is also necessary. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering practical training programs on stress management and resilience, and in creating psychological tools and materials for professional audiences, is essential. Prior experience with government agencies or UN organizations is required.

Strong knowledge of occupational psychology, professional burnout, occupational stress, and psychological resilience. Expertise in psychological approaches for law enforcement and frontline professionals. Proficient training and facilitation skills using adult-learning methodologies. Ability to translate psychological concepts into practical tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
