Organizational Context
UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). The WPHF supports women-led and women's rights organizations globally. The Secretariat manages funding, resource mobilization, and communications, focusing on women, peace, and security issues. This role supports the WPHF Regular Funding Cycle portfolio, particularly in the Arab States and Sahel regions.
Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the implementation and management of the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Regular Funding Cycle (RFC) portfolio, focusing on women, peace, and security, and humanitarian action. The consultant will contribute to funding allocations, provide technical assistance to UN Participating Organizations (PUNOs) and partners, monitor grant implementation and financial delivery, and support advocacy and knowledge-building efforts. The position aims to ensure the effective and timely delivery of the RFC portfolio, contributing to the WPHF's mission of empowering women's organizations in conflict and humanitarian settings.
Responsibilities
Contribute technically to the development, implementation, and management of the WPHF Regular Funding Cycle (RFC) portfolio, focusing on women, peace, and security, and humanitarian action. This includes supporting the design of funding allocations, coordinating Calls for Proposals, and reviewing/evaluating proposals. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to Participating UN Organizations (PUNOs) and partners, maintaining relationships with relevant offices and identifying capacity-building opportunities. Monitor grant implementation, track financial delivery, and manage portfolio budgets, identifying and mitigating risks. Support the preparation of monitoring reports, donor reports, and ad-hoc reporting. Contribute to advocacy, knowledge building, and partnerships by developing relevant documentation, supporting resource mobilization efforts, and organizing meetings and events.
Work Experience
Requires at least 2 years of progressive work experience in program management, implementation, grant management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, or capacity building. Experience in designing, implementing, or managing programs related to women, peace, and security, gender equality, peacebuilding, or humanitarian action is essential. Experience in conflict-affected and humanitarian contexts, particularly in the Arab States and/or Sahel regions, working with UN Multi-Partner Trust Funds, or with women-led organizations is desirable.
