UN Women Sudan is implementing a three-year project, in partnership with the African Development Bank, WFP, FAO, and UNICEF, to boost agricultural production and productivity. Job Purpose
The Project Management Specialist will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of UN Women's interventions within the Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) portfolio in Sudan. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful delivery of projects aimed at enhancing women's engagement in agribusiness, strengthening the care economy, and increasing economic opportunities. The specialist will work closely with program teams, government officials, and civil society to drive project objectives, foster partnerships, and contribute to the resilience and inclusive development of women and youth in Sudan, especially in the context of post-conflict recovery and food insecurity.
Responsibilities
Manage the full project lifecycle, including finalizing work plans, budgets, and overseeing their implementation. Draft project documents and proposals, ensuring integration of feedback from relevant thematic areas. Lead the recruitment of implementing partners and manage the technical execution of the project, providing advice and ensuring team synergies. Oversee the monitoring of project activities and finances using results-based management tools, and ensure quality assurance of reports for donors. Lead and manage the program team, conducting performance reviews and facilitating capacity development. Monitor financial situations to ensure adherence to delivery rates and resource utilization. Coordinate effectively with other UN agencies, INGOs, and national partners to ensure seamless project implementation and joint programming. Provide technical assistance and capacity building to partners, acting as an expert resource on women's economic empowerment and agribusiness. Lead advocacy, knowledge management, and communication efforts related to the project.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressive international experience in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects is required. This includes 5 years of project management experience, preferably in women's economic empowerment, and technical expertise in this area. Experience coordinating with government agencies, CSOs, UN agencies, INGOs, and donors is desirable, as is experience within the UN system and leading/managing teams.
