Organizational Context

UN Women, in partnership with UNDP and TROCAIRE, is implementing the 'Communities for Peace and Development Honduras' project, funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund. This three-year initiative focuses on preventing and managing conflicts related to environmental protection and territories in small-scale mining communities across five Honduran departments. The project aims to strengthen institutional capacities, increase the participation of local organizations, and improve policies for gender equality and human rights in the mining sector.

Job Purpose

The consultancy aims to design, facilitate, and systematize training processes for men and women in small-scale mining communities. The objective is to enhance their capacities in basic administration and finance for sustainable productive activities, while promoting positive masculinities, egalitarian relationships, and violence prevention practices among men. This initiative contributes to peacebuilding and community strengthening within the framework of the 'Communities for Peace' project, fostering more equitable relationships and sustainable livelihoods.

Responsibilities

The consultant will coordinate with project teams and key stakeholders to define the scope, timeline, and methodology for the training processes. This includes designing participatory and contextualized training materials and tools based on popular education and critical reflection approaches, adapted for individuals involved in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). Responsibilities also encompass facilitating in-person training sessions focused on financial management and administration for sustainable livelihoods, and promoting positive masculinities, gender equality, and violence prevention among men. The consultant will integrate the participation of mining organizations and local leaders, and systematize the training process, documenting methodologies, lessons learned, observed changes, best practices, and recommendations for future interventions.

Work Experience

Proven experience in designing and facilitating participatory training processes, particularly with communities involved in mining or natural resource management. Experience in promoting positive masculinities, gender equality, and conflict prevention is essential. Familiarity with financial administration and basic economic management for small-scale enterprises is also required. Experience working with UN agencies or international development projects is an asset.
