UN Women's Fiji Multi-Country Office oversees operations in 14 countries, including Kiribati. The Markets for Change (M4C) project, implemented in partnership with UNDP and the Australian Government, aims to promote gender equality and women's economic empowerment. This role is crucial for national-level project management and implementation within Kiribati, focusing on market vendors.
Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator - Country Lead, Kiribati, is responsible for managing and implementing the Markets for Change project at the national level. This involves developing programme strategies, overseeing project activities, managing budgets and partnerships, and ensuring effective resource utilization. The role contributes to UN Women's strategic goals in women's economic empowerment by supporting market vendors and fostering gender equality within Kiribati's informal sector.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of programme strategies for Markets for Change in Kiribati, including proposal formulation and identifying areas for intervention. Manage the annual workplan and budget, oversee project activities, and monitor partner reports. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project partners, facilitating training and mentoring. Monitor programme implementation and finances using results-based management tools, and draft progress reports. Contribute to partnership building, resource mobilization, and inter-agency coordination. Supervise the M4C Country team, manage HR matters for the team, and ensure effective communication and knowledge building efforts related to the project.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of progressive experience (with a Master's) or four years (with a Bachelor's) in project formulation, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience in women's economic empowerment, informal sector support, or related technical areas is an asset. Demonstrated leadership, team development, and computer proficiency are required. Experience with UN systems or Oracle Cloud is desirable.
