UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women globally. The Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI) aims to increase women's employment in the Arab States region by 5% by 2030. This role supports the Jordan Chapter of SWEI, focusing on enhancing decent employment opportunities for women through gender-responsive workplaces and private sector partnerships.
Job Purpose
This consultancy contributes to the effective management and implementation of UN Women's Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI) in Jordan. The primary purpose is to increase decent employment opportunities for women by improving gender-responsive workplaces and fostering transformative partnerships with the private sector. The role will scale foundational work on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) in the MENA region, aligning with SWEI's 5% employment goal. It involves developing innovative partnership approaches with the private sector and supporting companies in achieving sustained increases in women's employment.
Responsibilities
The consultant will lead the national implementation of the private sector pillar under the Jordan Chapter of SWEI. Key duties include rolling out WEPs components, focusing on principles related to employment equality, gender-responsive procurement, and monitoring. Responsibilities involve developing and managing workplans, building strategic partnerships, and coordinating with private sector companies, government counterparts, and other stakeholders. The role also entails expanding WEPs signatories, providing capacity building and advisory support to companies on gender-responsive policies, and supporting the implementation of the National Gender Seal. Coordination with regional private sector initiatives and preparation for the UN Women Arab States Private Sector Forum are also key tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on gender and private sector programs is required. Specific experience in engaging the private sector for women's economic empowerment in Jordan, providing advisory support, and capacity building to national stakeholders, including private sector partners and CSOs, is essential. UN experience is desirable.
Skills
Strong knowledge of women's economic empowerment, WEPs, and private sector partnerships for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE). Analytical skills, ability to synthesize program data, strong networking skills, training and advisory delivery capabilities, and knowledge of the Arab Region are required.
