Job Purpose
This role serves to contribute to UN Women's evaluation processes by providing essential support during inception, data collection, and reporting phases. The consultant will assist in reviewing documents, developing methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and providing inputs for evaluation reports. The purpose is to ensure comprehensive and high-quality evaluations that align with UN Women's standards and contribute to programmatic learning and accountability.
Responsibilities
The National Consultant will be an integral part of the evaluation team, contributing to all phases of the evaluation process. Key responsibilities include reviewing relevant documents such as strategic notes and project documents, and providing translation/interpretation support as needed. The consultant will assist in developing inclusive evaluation methodologies and data collection tools. During data collection, they will support interviews and focus group discussions, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and capturing results, challenges, and learning. The role also involves providing inputs to preliminary findings and final synthesis reports, ensuring all deliverables meet UN Women's GERAAS criteria.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of experience in research, evaluations, reviews, or assessments with development organizations, utilizing various evaluation methods. Demonstrated expertise in gender equality and women's rights is essential. Experience working in Papua New Guinea, understanding its development context, and knowledge of national policies are crucial. The ability to apply ethical evaluation standards and strong facilitation and communication skills are also necessary.
