The Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section focuses on comprehensive strategies including policy, prevention, survivor services, research, and advocacy. This role supports the ACT to End Violence against Women and Girls Programme, funded by the European Union.
Job Purpose
This Policy Analyst role provides crucial analytical, policy, and programme support to UN Women's initiatives focused on preventing violence against women and girls (VAWG) and the ACT to End Violence against Women Programme. The position contributes to policy analysis, research, evidence generation, knowledge management, programme monitoring, and stakeholder engagement, aiming to strengthen evidence-informed policy and programming in this critical area. The role supports the development and implementation of global VAWG prevention agendas and innovative programme initiatives.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include conducting policy analysis and providing technical inputs for the global prevention of VAWG agenda and the ACT Programme. This involves supporting the adaptation and dissemination of UN Women policy frameworks and tools, and contributing to the development of policy guidance and knowledge products. The role also supports research on emerging EVAWG issues, including technology-facilitated violence, and synthesizes findings to inform policy positions and advocacy. Engagement in global advocacy opportunities, partnership development with stakeholders like the EU, and programme monitoring and reporting are also core duties. The incumbent will support knowledge management platforms and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of progressively responsible experience in developing knowledge products focused on Ending Violence against Women and Girls. Experience in EVAWG prevention, research, writing on gender equality, and supporting international advocacy initiatives is essential. Experience coordinating high-level advocacy events and working within the UN system in developing countries is also required.
