Job Purpose
The Head of Office is responsible for leading the Mali Country Office on an interim basis, reporting to the Regional Director. This role ensures the continuity of UN Women's programs and operations, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and peacebuilding efforts. The Head of Office represents UN Women in the UN Country Team and engages with the Resident Coordinator system, ensuring gender equality and women's empowerment remain central to UN system work in Mali.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include leading the participatory drafting of the new Country Strategic Note (SN 2027-2031), ensuring it aligns with national priorities and UN Women's standards. The role involves providing day-to-day leadership to the Country Office team, ensuring continuity of program delivery and operations, and managing programmatic, operational, and financial risks. Additionally, the Head of Office will manage and develop the Country Office team, foster a safe work environment, represent UN Women in the UNCT, maintain strategic partnerships, and oversee personnel safety and well-being.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of progressive experience in strategic and managerial leadership in development cooperation at national and international levels. Experience in gender and women's issues programming internationally, preferably within the UN system, is essential. Field experience with multicultural teams, including staff leadership, and experience in developing strategic planning documents are also required.
