Organizational Context
UN Women in the Central African Republic (CAR) is implementing a project to integrate gender into climate, peace, and security domains. The country faces complex challenges from conflict, climate change, and gender inequality, disproportionately affecting women and girls. This role supports national efforts to align policies and programs with gender-sensitive approaches to climate action and peacebuilding.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this consultancy is to conduct an integrated assessment of gender, climate, and security risks and opportunities in the Central African Republic. The consultant will produce strategic analyses, data, and recommendations to guide public policies and national programs. This work is crucial for informing existing policy and programmatic frameworks and supporting the integration of gender-sensitive approaches into peacebuilding and climate action initiatives, addressing the specific vulnerabilities and needs of women and girls in the context of climate and security crises.
Responsibilities
The consultant will lead an integrated assessment of gender, climate, and security risks and opportunities in the Central African Republic. Key responsibilities include conducting a thorough documentary review of existing national strategies and available data on gender, climate, and security links. The consultant will develop a comprehensive integrated assessment methodology and data collection tools. This involves collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data through consultations with national institutions, civil society, and technical partners. The role requires producing a detailed evaluation report with key analyses, conclusions, and recommendations, and presenting these findings at a national symposium. Finally, the consultant will integrate stakeholder feedback to finalize the report and develop a concept note for catalytic interventions and an approach note for awareness-raising, training, and advocacy.
Work Experience
Requires at least seven years of experience in conducting studies, research design and management, and analysis. Experience in developing methodological approaches, presenting findings to stakeholders, and producing mission reports is essential. Proficiency in quantitative, qualitative, and diachronic analysis methods is needed, along with experience in conflict analysis integrating gender and youth-specific needs. Regional experience in Central Africa, particularly in the Central African Republic, is a strong asset. Experience with the UN system is also desirable.
