Organizational Context

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls (UN Trust Fund), administered by UN Women, exclusively funds civil society organizations working to prevent and end violence against women and girls globally. This role supports the UN Trust Fund's Strategic Plan 2026-2030, focusing on survivor-centered grant-making and supporting organizations working with marginalized women and girls.

Job Purpose

The Regional Programme Specialist manages a portfolio of grants across Latin America, Africa, and the Arab States regions for the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls. This role provides strategic and technical support to grantee partners throughout the grant lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, feminist-informed programming, effective risk management, and institutional strengthening. The Specialist also contributes to the Trust Fund's global grant-making, monitoring, capacity development, learning, and partnership functions, providing analysis and recommendations to senior management. The position works closely with UN Women offices, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance portfolio coherence and generate practice-based knowledge.

Responsibilities

The Regional Programme Specialist leads technical accompaniment and capacity strengthening for EVAW/G grant programmes, providing advisory support to grantees on design, implementation, and monitoring, and identifying/addressing capacity gaps. They manage and monitor regional grants portfolios across the full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with UN Trust Fund policies and UN Women procedures. The role involves strengthening risk management and portfolio oversight by supporting partners in mitigating operational and fiduciary risks, and maintaining accurate grant records. The Specialist contributes to grant selection and appraisal by assessing proposals and providing technical review. Additionally, they facilitate capacity development, learning, and regional partnerships by designing initiatives, analyzing data for trends and lessons learned, and contributing to knowledge products and strategic reporting.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in programme management, including design, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building in ending violence against women is required. Experience working directly with civil society and women's organizations on EVAW/G is essential. Experience in setting priorities, budgets, work plans, and results-based management is also required. Experience managing multi-country portfolios, providing technical assistance to CSOs, and grant-making processes is highly desirable.
