The role is within the Women's Civil Society Organizations (WCSOs) unit, which focuses on strengthening WCSOs through grants, capacity building, and fostering peer support spaces to advance women's rights and development in Afghanistan.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the UN Women Afghanistan WCSO Unit in strengthening women's civil society organizations (WCSOs). The consultant will contribute to grantmaking, programme support, and knowledge management. Key functions include coordinating civil society engagement and partnerships, facilitating coalition building and knowledge sharing among WCSOs, and providing programmatic and administrative support for grantmaking processes. The role is crucial for ensuring WCSOs receive timely support, capacity building, and operational assistance to effectively advance their work in Afghanistan, ultimately contributing to the empowerment of women and girls in a challenging context.
Responsibilities
Coordinate civil society engagement and partnerships by liaising with WCSO partners, identifying their needs and challenges, and facilitating consultations and engagement activities. Support coalition building and knowledge sharing by planning peer-to-peer exchange events and facilitating learning sessions among partner organizations. Provide support to grantmaking and programmatic processes, including partner onboarding, agreement processing, and project closure. Assist in tracking and reviewing applicant submissions, maintaining organized records of grantmaking processes, and supporting capacity development for partners on grant management. Offer administrative support for programme implementation, including preparing documentation and correspondence. The consultant will report to the Programme Manager of the WCSO Unit.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of relevant work experience in international development, programme implementation, grantmaking, programme oversight, and capacity building. Experience with civil society, women's issues, and the UN System is desirable.
