The role is situated within the Cox's Bazar Sub-Office, focusing on the Rohingya humanitarian crisis response. The Analyst will coordinate the Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) programming portfolio, including WPHF projects and gender-responsive climate action initiatives, supporting humanitarian actors in mainstreaming gender equality.
Job Purpose
The Gender in Humanitarian Action Programme and Coordination Analyst is responsible for coordinating UN Women's GiHA programming portfolio in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This includes managing projects funded by the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and supporting gender-responsive climate action and disaster risk reduction initiatives. The role involves providing technical and coordination support to partners, ensuring gender equality is mainstreamed across the humanitarian response, and strengthening accountability to affected women and girls. The Analyst will also facilitate inter-agency coordination through the GiHA Chapter and contribute to advocacy and knowledge management efforts.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing technical and coordination support for humanitarian action planning and strategies, including contributing to the Joint Response Plan and mobilizing resources. The Analyst will support the implementation and management of humanitarian action projects and activities, ensuring alignment with UN Women's strategic note and WPHF project documents, including budget planning and partner management. Capacity development is a key function, involving technical support to partners, facilitating training on gender-responsive humanitarian action, and supervising the GiHA team. Monitoring progress on activities, results, and finances using results-based management tools is essential, along with gathering inputs for UN Women and donor reporting. The Analyst will coordinate the effective functioning of the Cox’s Bazar GiHA Chapter, contribute to inter-agency coordination platforms, and advocate for gender equality through knowledge management, learning, and communication initiatives.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of progressive experience in humanitarian programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Essential experience includes gender equality programming in humanitarian settings, managing projects with local women-led organizations, and coordinating inter-agency mechanisms in crisis contexts. Experience in the Rohingya refugee response, with government actors, and in leading personnel is desirable. Proficiency in computer software and ERP systems is required/desirable.
