UN Women is supporting the National Statistics and Demography Agency (ANSD) in Senegal to establish an innovative Gender Data Lab. This platform aims to centralize, analyze, and disseminate gender-specific statistics using modern visualization, analysis, and artificial intelligence tools. The Database & BI Officer will be instrumental in the technical implementation of this initiative.
Job Purpose
The Database & BI Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing databases and reporting solutions for the Gender Data Lab. This role is crucial for ensuring the accessibility, analysis, and utilization of gender statistics. The officer will contribute to enhancing data-driven decision-making for gender equality policies by managing data infrastructure, developing interactive dashboards, and ensuring data integrity and security.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing and administering databases, including vector databases for AI components like RAG chatbots, and ensuring their performance and integrity. The role involves designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes for data integration, cleaning, validation, and harmonization from various sources. Additionally, the officer will design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, ensuring data visualization meets decision-maker needs. Responsibilities also encompass ensuring data security, confidentiality, and implementing access control mechanisms, as well as maintaining technical documentation. Collaboration with Data Scientists and Web Developers is essential for platform integration and functionality.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of professional experience in designing, administering, and optimizing relational databases. Proven experience in implementing Business Intelligence solutions, particularly developing interactive dashboards with Power BI, and experience with ETL/ELT processes are essential. Experience in data platform design/deployment and database security/backup mechanisms is also required. Familiarity with vector databases or RAG architectures is a plus.
