Job Purpose
This role supports a gender-responsive safety and access audit of Port Vila's reconstruction efforts, particularly the Central Business District and market. The audit will assess the safety and accessibility of infrastructure for women, girls, and marginalized groups, identify risks of harassment and violence, and develop an action plan for gender-responsive reconstruction. The purpose is to ensure that post-earthquake recovery integrates gender equality principles, promoting safe, inclusive, and resilient public spaces and infrastructure, contributing to women's safety, mobility, and economic participation.
Responsibilities
The National Assistant Consultant will support the lead consultant in conducting a gender-responsive safety and access audit of Port Vila's reconstruction. Key responsibilities include assisting with desk reviews of relevant documents, adapting audit frameworks, identifying and mapping stakeholders, and developing a stakeholder engagement plan. The role involves supporting data collection through key informant interviews and focus group discussions, conducting site visits, and managing raw data. The consultant will contribute to analyzing findings, drafting sections of the audit report, and supporting validation workshops. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the finalization of the audit report and action plan, and preparing materials for dissemination, ensuring all activities adhere to survivor-centered principles and ethical standards.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years (with Master's) or 7 years (with Bachelor's) of experience in gender equality, ending violence against women, or social research. Experience in conducting qualitative research in the Pacific, gender audits, or urban planning is advantageous. Familiarity with survivor-centered principles and the Port Vila urban context is strongly preferred.
