Organizational Context

UN Women's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific seeks an International Consultant to advance gender equality and women's economic empowerment. This role focuses on developing and implementing gender-inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystems, particularly in climate and care economies. The consultant will work within the Women's Economic Empowerment team, contributing to regional strategies and fostering partnerships to drive transformative change.

Job Purpose

The International Consultant will manage and lead programmes focused on Gender-Inclusive Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development within UN Women's Asia-Pacific region. This involves overseeing enterprise support, skill development, and sustainable finance initiatives. The role also includes supporting policy advocacy efforts with governments and regional bodies. The consultant will play a key part in developing UN Women's regional strategy for inclusive entrepreneurship, fostering collaborations with stakeholders to create enabling environments for women entrepreneurs in impact economies.

Responsibilities

The consultant will provide technical support and supervision for the implementation of entrepreneurship accelerator programmes, ensuring gender-responsiveness. Responsibilities include developing capacity-building curricula and materials, and overseeing tailored business support for entrepreneurs to enhance investment readiness. The role involves supporting communications and advocacy efforts for women's entrepreneurship in climate action, co-organizing events, and developing knowledge products. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate access to finance for enterprises, promote the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), and lead the development of a Gender-Inclusive Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Strategy. Partnership building and resource mobilization for sustainable finance and impact entrepreneurship are also key duties.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in ASEAN is required, with expertise in at least two of the following areas: women's economic empowerment, gender financing, entrepreneurship development/acceleration, or climate technology. Experience in implementing entrepreneurship programmes, working with governments and the private sector in ASEAN, and providing capacity building or support to entrepreneurs/investors in climate change or gender-lens investing is essential. UN experience is considered an asset.
