UN Women Jordan is implementing the "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" (Women Count) initiative, Phase III, to strengthen the capacity of government and non-state actors in producing and using gender data. This role supports the Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) portfolio, focusing on integrating gender statistics into policy and program implementation for women's economic empowerment.
Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist, Gender Statistics, will implement the Jordan Women Count initiative and support the broader Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Portfolio. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of evidence-based interventions by enhancing planning, coordination, monitoring, and knowledge management. The position aims to strengthen the links between gender data, policy analysis, and program implementation to advance women's economic empowerment in Jordan, contributing to the 2030 Agenda.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will design and develop programme strategies in Gender Statistics with a focus on WEE, including formulating proposals and drafting strategy documents. They will manage the implementation of the programme/project, finalize annual workplans and budgets, and oversee partner reporting. The role involves managing technical assistance and capacity development for partners on Gender Statistics, building relationships with national stakeholders, and coordinating inter-agency efforts. Responsibilities also include monitoring programme implementation and finances, managing financial resources, developing partnerships, and leading advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects. Essential experience includes technical expertise in Gender Statistics with a focus on Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) and proficiency in computer software and web-based management systems. Experience with government agencies, donors, or the UN system is desirable.
